What Is Google AI Pro for Education?
Google AI Pro for Education is an add-on that enhances Google Workspace for Education with advanced AI features powered by Gemini.
You can use it to:
- Draft or rewrite text in Docs
- Summarize long threads in Gmail
- Create visuals in Slides
- Generate formulas or data analysis suggestions in Sheets
- Translate or rephrase content instantly

What is NotebookLM?
NotebookLM is a personal AI research assistant that lets you upload and analyze materials such as:
- PDFs, Google Docs, or Google Slides
- Web pages and articles
You can then ask questions, summarize readings, create study aids, or even generate Audio Overviews to listen to your materials like a podcast. NotebookLM includes automatic citations, allowing you to see the source of each answer.
Example Uses
- Faculty: Summarize journal articles or generate lecture outlines.
- Students: Upload readings and generate study guides or flashcards.
- Researchers: Compare multiple papers or create a synthesized summary.
Limitations
- Upload limit: ~50 sources or up to ~25 million words per notebook.
- Some media types (videos, images) are not fully supported.
- Responses may contain inaccuracies — always verify information.
- Some advanced NotebookLM features may require AI Pro licensing.
- Access depends on the type of license you have access to.
Eligibility / Applies To
- Who Can Use: Faculty, staff, and students with UCM Google Workspace for Education accounts.
- Availability: Service rollout managed by UCM Office of Technology.
How To / Procedure
To access NotebookLM:
- Visit https://notebooklm.google.com.
- Sign in with your UCM Network ID.
- Create a new notebook.
- Upload your materials (PDF, Docs, Slides, or URL).
- Ask questions, summarize, or generate study content.
To use Google AI Pro features:
- Open Docs, Gmail, Slides, or Sheets.
- Look for the "Help me write" or Gemini icon.
- Enter a prompt (e.g., "Summarize this report" or "Draft an email to my class").
- Review and edit the result as needed.
